Individual Rooms

Well designed and crafted joinery can bring depth and life to a room and home. It can turn a box into a space that is beautiful and useful. Awkward spaces can become a delightful feature. Combine that with carefully chosen colours, that reflect personal taste and the rooms position and function, then you have something very special. Whether that is a bedroom, kitchen, home office or boot room.

Here is a small sample of previous commissioned fitted joinery projects. They are conceived and crafted to bring form and function in a beautiful way. Please get in touch if you'd like to talk about a specific room you have.

Boot Room

A client asked for a boot room that was eye-catching, useful and designed to hide an array of pipework and valves from the underfloor heating system. The house is a beautifully designed modern home. It's full of clean lines, deep grey and oak (the client's favourite wood). The boot room is now finished.

Hand fluted carved panels and doors sit alongside the radius carved long, slender handles. The cabinets are made from birch and poplar and finished in Little Greene's 'Lamp Black' (a beautifully soft black, that works superbly with the earthy tones of the oak). Almost 5 metres of hanging space is hidden behind the 8-foot high doors. Two oak drawers sit beneath a tabletop, designed to hold a sculptural piece, as it's the first thing you see walking through the front door. A lovely bench sits beneath the hand-carved oak pegs that have been coloured in iron oxide.
This is a stunning room; a grown-up space that's full of artistic touches that elevate it from the ordinary. Putting your shoes on takes longer than normal now as there are so many super details to savour and enjoy.

TV Room

This feature wall has just been finished in a beautiful home. The customer wanted something designed that was special as it sits in a very significant place in their home. Oak slats rest on acoustic fabric. The large tv is surrounded by four frames covered in speaker fabric. A beautiful 8 ft cabinet floats 12" above the tiled floor. The cabinet has two deep dovetail drawers and two pull down doors. All ironmongery is high quality "Grass" fixings in anthracite black to match the acoustic fabrics. The entire unit is made from beautiful characterful oak, oiled and waxed. This was beautiful to make and wonderful to see it finished in a lovely home.

Music Room

A musical family asked for a room to be designed to give them a space to play and enjoy music. A special desk was designed to hold their full length metal keyboard, synthesisers, computers and equipment. Alongside it stands an 8 foot tall cabinet to house their ukuleles and musical records. Above it all stands a shelf to place their sheet music and books. Hidden behind everything is Philips Hue lighting that's controlled with either their mobile phones home of the integrated dimmer switch. Beautiful pippy oak has been used alongside Farrow and Ball "Charleston Grey" eggshell paintwork. To finish a hand sculpted oak mantle was crafted to sit above the woodturning stove.

Bedroom

A lovely built in wardrobe designed for a long narrow bedroom. Hand crafted in oak, birch and poplar with fully extendable drawers. Finished in Farrow and Ball's "Dove Tale" with nickel handles

Dressing Room

The brief for this room included a wall that housed lots of electrical, plumbing and valves. These needed to be accessed easily but hidden from view. The room now includes oak slat wall fixed upon a soft grey fabric, floating oak dressing desk with three drawers, six deep shelves and matt chrome hanging areas, sleek led lighting and an oak stool. Five doors are concealed in the wall (two with large mirrors). One of our favourite touches are the ammonia fumed oak handles and tenon pegs. The handles come from the same piece of wood as the drawer front. The dark colour emerges from the chemical reaction between the ammonia and the tannins (this is an old restoration technique). Everything is finished in a hardwearing oil and wax finish. This room now has a lovely blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern design elements. It was a joy to hear that it's now one of the couples favourite rooms.
