Oak saddle seat bench
A beautiful little bench that's full of charm, with rounded edges and wonderful oak. Look closely at the timber and you'll see that the 2"oak is very close to the central cut of the log. This gives flat cut and quarter dawn grain from the one board. Designed for a lady to use with a small dressing table. Curved saddle seat and exposed joints give a real unique feel to it. To protect and highlight the grain it has been given a full oil and wax finish.
Outdoor Dining Table and bench
A beautiful outdoor dining table made from characterful oak; rich in texture, pips and depth of grain. Simple design but full of craft and elegance. Designed to easily sit 8-10 people (5 1/2ft long and 3ft wide). The bench sits snuggly under the table when not in use. Traditionally jointed with deep oak pegs. All hand-planed with tool marks burnished and left to emphasis the hand made character - running your hand over it reveals those smoothed marks, making it very tactile. Finished in UV protective oil.
French Writing Desk
A lovely replica of an 18th-century French writing desk for a young lady. It was a birthday present from her parents who wanted a piece that she would treasure and use all her life, and hopefully, become a family heirloom. I managed to source some old pitch pine (which came from a hundred-year-old house renovation). The desk was lightly distressed, limewashed and waxed with handmade waxes for that aged authentic look. Five drawers with lovely blind fret-work. Two hidden column compartments are opened by secret release switches. Finished off with pewter handles. Really beautiful.
Small Bookcase
A lovely little bookcase designed and made to match a small cabinet in a young girl's bedroom (The parents have handwritten a message on the underside of the drawer - it'll be there for generations to come). Hand-painted in Farrow and Ball's "Wimborne White" and "Pink Ground". It has two oak dovetail drawers that have been limed (Look closely and you'll see that we cut the drawer fronts from one decorative piece of 2" oak to give a bookmatch in the grain). Compact in size but super proportions.
Bespoke Cabinet
A bespoke display cabinet for an awkward corner (which has sat unused for many years) in a young girl's bedroom. Painted in Farrow and Ball's "Wimborne White" and a delicate shade of purple (to match her room) with limed oak handles. The cabinet is made in two parts. The top display section is secured to the wall while the bottom cabinet is mounted on wheels with a hand-made runner fixed to the floor. This allows the bottom to be pulled out from the corner (parallel with the wall) without the top section moving, giving easy and safe access. It's simple and clean with a modern twist, yet hiding lovely joinery details. Details such as a long, secret, hand-cut and book-matched oak drawer, faceted pegs and hand-carved handles.
Garden seating
A super 5 ft. oak bench with deep mortice and tenons joints with riven pegs. The gentle curves expose the beautiful grain and medullary rays in the quarter-sawn oak. Shaped arms give the perfect width to rest your hot mug of tea. All hand cut, planed and finished. Three coats of UV protective oil gives protection and will mellow in colour. It's going to a special family in North Wales who work hard and spend lots of time helping other people. It's an investment that, if looked after, will last them a lifetime. Makes me wonder how many wonderful conversations will take place, over the coming decades, on this special bench.
